Matthew G. Whitaker (born October 29, 1969) is an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat. currently serves as the United States Ambassador to NATO, a position he assumed in 2025. Previously, he served as the Acting Attorney General of the United States from November 2018 to February 2019 during President Donald Trump's first administration.
In 2025, Whitaker was confirmed as the 26th United States Ambassador to NATO, representing the United States at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
